Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She founded The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist TV personality, and the owner of the independent liberal online newspaper The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece then moved to England at the age of sixteen. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA of Economics. She was the first person who was not from the UK to serve as the president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. After graduation she made her mark as an editor for a conservative newspaper and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online platform for voice that included critical comments regarding the current political situation. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of well-known contributors to share their views about news, politics and other topics. Arianna became famous in 2003, when she ran independently in a recall campaign in California to replace the then-Governor Davis. Alongside this, she led the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes named her as the 12th most influential female in the media industry in 2009 and Guardian also ranked her on the Top 100 Media List the same year. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was named president of the media company. It included a variety of AOL products at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. The couple she was born to were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was closely associated with her father, it was her relationship with her mother that shaped her character. While in her formative years, she exhibited leadership skills for which are still in high demand. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college in which she became the third female to hold the position of president. In 1972 she graduated with the degree of master's in Economics. She was a journalist as well as a host on TV and columnist upon her graduation. Also, she appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editorial assistance.
