Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the benefits of football family scholarship and community service. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. Also, he was one of three siblings to represent Oklahoma in football. All three made All-America. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's finest lineman. In his three years as Oklahoma's starter, the Sooners went 33-1-1, and picked up two championships. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the course of his college. Following college, he moved to Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers and was an all-pro 3 times, and began a business career. In 1988, he was appointed an account representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 among America's best young men. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs 256 pounds. He played for his school's team in 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
